Retail cleanouts run on someone else's clock
A store cleanout rarely happens on your schedule. Mall and shopping-center management decide when trucks can use the loading area. The lease sets the date the space has to be returned. If the store stays open through a remodel, the work has to happen after close and be gone before staff arrive in the morning.
The materials are awkward too: glass display cases, gondola runs, slatwall, mannequins, back-room shelving, stacks of cardboard from the last delivery, and stock that didn't sell. For a chain, the same problem shows up at a dozen locations in a dozen markets, each with its own local hauler, its own certificate of insurance and its own invoice.
What we remove from stores
- Fixtures and displays: display cases, gondolas, tables, racks, slatwall and gridwall, mannequins.
- Shelving: sales-floor and back-room shelving and stockroom racks.
- Signage: interior signs, seasonal displays and point-of-purchase materials.
- Unsold merchandise and seasonal turnover: for brands that can't let product reach the resale market, we can destroy unsold, damaged or branded merchandise and provide a certificate of destruction.
- Registers, computers, printers and other electronics, sorted for recycling.
- Back-office and break room furniture and appliances.
- Cardboard, packaging and general trash overflow.
- Remodel debris: flooring, drywall and fixtures from a build-out. See construction debris removal.
We take almost any non-hazardous material.
Beyond the cleanout: full waste and recycling services
Jiffy Junk does more than junk removal. We have access to all waste and recycling assets and services, so the vendor clearing a closing store can also take care of the stores that stay open:
- Recurring cardboard pickup and recycling on a weekly, bi-weekly, monthly or custom schedule. See cardboard pickup.
- Trash overflow pickups for peak season and big deliveries.
- Roll-off dumpsters from 10 to 40 yards for remodels and multi-day cleanouts. See dumpster rental.
- Electronics recycling for retired registers and devices. See electronics recycling.
Recurring service is typically priced lower than booking the same volume as one-off hauls.
How a store cleanout works
- Send photos or a video walk. Book online, call, or text photos of the sales floor and stockroom. Let us know the center's loading rules and any move-out deadline.
- Get an upfront price. We price by volume, labor and access. Labor, hauling and disposal are included, and the quote is what you pay.
- We work after hours. Early mornings, evenings, weekends and overnight for the largest jobs, so customers never see the crew.
- Disassembly and haul-out. Licensed, insured, uniformed and background-checked crews take apart fixtures and carry everything out. We can provide proof of insurance to the property manager before the job.
- Broom-clean handback. Our optional White Glove Treatment leaves the space broom-clean, and invoices can carry your PO and store number.
One vendor for the whole chain
Proudly serving all 50 states and Canada, Jiffy Junk can run closures, remodels and resets across your entire store portfolio. You get one point of contact who coordinates every location, instead of onboarding a new local hauler each time a store changes. We can add PO and store numbers to every invoice, and if you want it, we can consolidate billing across locations onto one invoice. See Multi-Location & National Accounts.
Fixtures deserve a second life
Store fixtures are often in good shape when they come out. We donate what's usable to local charities, sort metal, cardboard, electronics and wood for recycling, and send only what's left to licensed disposal. Donating business property can also qualify for a tax deduction. IRS Publication 526 explains the rules, and your accountant can tell you whether it applies.
Retail store cleanout FAQ

Can you send proof of insurance to the mall or landlord? Yes. We can provide proof of insurance before the job.
We're closing stores in several states. Can one company handle all of them? Yes. We serve all 50 states and Canada with one point of contact, and we can consolidate billing across your stores if you need it.
