Junk removal across New York

New York State runs from the five boroughs and Long Island through Westchester and the Hudson Valley to the Capital Region, Central New York, Rochester and Buffalo. Building access, freight elevators and parking rules make the city a very different job from upstate.

Business cleanouts across New York

In New York City, commercial work is all about logistics: building management rules, booked freight-elevator times and off-hours removal. Long Island and Westchester bring office parks and retail centers, and upstate metros such as Albany, Rochester and Buffalo add warehouses and manufacturing plants.

Related services: office cleanouts, retail store cleanouts, warehouse cleanouts, property management junk removal and national accounts.

Common New York projects

  • Handling off-hours office cleanouts in Manhattan towers
  • Clearing retail spaces and storage across the five boroughs
  • Removing racking from warehouses along the Thruway upstate

New York landfill bans and recycling programs

  • New York's Electronic Equipment Recycling and Reuse Act has banned businesses from throwing away covered electronics since 2012, and households since 2015. Covered items include computers, monitors, printers, TVs, small-scale servers and game consoles. Businesses with 50 or more full-time employees may be charged for manufacturer recycling.
  • In New York City, DSNY removes CFC refrigerant only for residential addresses. Stores and other commercial sites have to arrange CFC removal and appliance disposal through a private carter.
  • Appliances that contain refrigerant need it recovered under EPA Section 608 before scrapping, so those units are handled separately from other junk.

For the regulations themselves, see the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) and your local public works office.
